World Series coming to Stafford

Stafford/Fredericksburg Virginia to Host 2022 Babe Ruth 13-15 Year-Old World Series. STAFFORD, VA -

Babe Ruth League International Headquarters, Hamilton, N.J. has announced that the 2022 Babe Ruth 13-15 Year-Old World Series will be hosted by Stafford Baseball League. Games will be played at Chichester Park and FredNats Stadium. Chichester Park is Stafford County Park and Recreations newest baseball sports complex featuring five baseball/softball fields. The complex is home to Stafford Baseball League, which serves nearly 1,000 youth from Stafford County, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, King George, Eastern Prince William and Fauquier County each season playing Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball. FredNats Stadium is a brand new, state-of-the-art stadium and home to the Fredericksburg Nationals. The Fredericksburg Nationals are a minor league affiliate of the Washington Nationals in the Low- A East League.

Babe Ruth World Series are one of the largest youth sporting events in the country. Hosting a Babe Ruth League World Series provides the host community and surrounding areas with direct economic activity. In addition, it serves as a gateway for many first-time visitors, inspiring families to make plans for subsequent trips and vacations to the area and surrounding region.

Historic Stafford County is located about 40 miles south of the nation’s capital, 10 miles from downtown Fredericksburg and 60 miles north of Richmond, Virginia. It’s easily accessible from major national and international airports and also has its own regional airport, Stafford Regional Airport. Conveniently, Interstate 95 runs north to south through the county and passenger rail transportation is available via the Virginia Railway Express and Amtrak with multiple local stations.

Stafford County was formally established in 1664 and was the location of George Washington’s boyhood home. During the Civil War, Stafford was a logistical and transportation center and a staging ground. Chatham Manor which is still standing today, was utilized as a Union headquarters and hospital. The Marine Corps Base Quantico was established in 1917 in Stafford. Situated on 547 acres of Quantico is the FBI Academy. The FBI Academy is dedicated to being the world’s premier law enforcement learning and research center. 

The city of Fredericksburg sits on the Rappahannock River. Fredericksburg is known for its’ Civil War history and is home to four battlefields. Downtown Fredericksburg features a 40-block National Historic District with more than 350 original buildings from the 18th and 19th century. There are over 100 shops, chef-owned restaurants and boutiques in the downtown area. Stafford Baseball League has been host to many Babe Ruth district, state and southeast region tournaments. “This is fantastic opportunity for our players, the community and local businesses” said SBL president Michael Bouchard. “We are honored that Babe Ruth League has put their trust into this league and appreciative to the local leaders in both Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg for their commitment and support. Membership is open to every resident of Stafford County, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, King George, Eastern Prince William, and Fauquier County who is interested in advancing, and improving the youth instructional, and recreational baseball and girl's fast pitch softball programs available.
